New kitteh.

Here we go--first new pic in a while, I apologise. Work's been a real killer, and my muse is also in the crapper lately. But turning out these cat faces is not too hard to do because I am so used to doing them, so until I get enough inspiration and time to do a full body pieces, these will have to do. =)

A Bengal cat face for your viewing pleasure. I think he has the face of a warrior! Maybe a little stiff, and a little too much dodge and burn done over the initial rendering, but oh well.

He's part of my warrior cats character designer project. Along with all the other kitty faces. Oh and while you're at it check out the Warriors RPG Halloween Event this year, night of the living dead. We got kind of goofy this year but our members are loving it. Zombie kitties, what's not to love?

Happy Halloween!

Brown tabby and white cat - longhair

This was a request done for someone's specific cat. Used more gaussian blur than I usually do.

Blue or grey cat

Called blue in the cat fancy, but to most, it is a blue or slate-blue cat :)

Brown tabby kitten

I hope I didn't already upload this one XD

Orange and White Cat

Here's number 25! I actually just completed it now. I do them out of order a bit sometimes...

I like how this cat came out. I've had a hard time getting longer-nosed cat faces to look the way I want to, I think this one did well.

Silver Tabby Kitten - Ghost Girl

I tried a new technique with this cat, involving repeated gaussian blur effects that I then drew over. The effect was an ethereal, ghostlike effect. Not perfect, but interesting.

The fact that it's off centre is what's driving me nuts about it, though.

Dark Brown Tabby

I lost some of the intrinsic colour values in this cat that tabbies tend to have, but I think it still came out okay. The eyes save it, like with most of my pictures that seem weaker. A lot of members liked this one anyway, probably because it looks like it has attitude :)

Red Persian Cat

I'm so behind in this blog so I'm uploading a bunch of cats tonight! This red Persian cat I did rather quickly compared to most of them and think it came out one of my best.

Brown tabby and white cat - blue eyes

The eyes are almost violet tinted. Was planning on it, but they turned out an ice-blue instead. I think the eyes save this piece, which would otherwise be boring and almost ugly. This one didn't come as easily as some of my others have and it was a struggle to get it to work. But, I'm happy enough with it and think it is one of my better cats.

Brown tabby kitten

Did this one a little larger than I usually do and got a bit carried away with the details. I like how it came out, but I actually like them less photorealistic so I will probably stick strictly to the 500x500 size for the rest of these.

A brown tabby kitten. Took me a couple of days of steady work.

Siamese Cat - Seal Point

I tried saving this as a PNG file and it lost half the details. I always thought those weren't lossy! Saved it as a JPEG and it looks much better though there is still detail loss in the darkest areas.

Seal-point Siamese cat, done in one day over several hours' work. I spent almost the whole day on it.

Warrior Kitten!

Well...those eyes might be hard to raise a fight against! ^_^;;

When I logged in after, oh, 2 months of not posting anything new I saw a request for an evil cat. Unfortunately I had just come off doing this one, but maybe next time...Maybe.

This is a lilac tabby kitten, and I might do the rest of this series as kitty faces only. They are just what I seem to do best and I'm kind of on a kick with them! Besides, I am trying to get enough cat face avatars to create my Warrior Cat avatar maker for my site. Yes, I have one in the works! Players will be able to create a custom avatar of their cat's face to use on the site.

I'm a Tiger

I think this is my best cat picture so far. The ones with just the faces seem to turn out so well, I should do more of them.

I had a lot of layers going on this one for a while, and it took 2 days to do, a few hours each day. I'd say about 5-6 hours in all.

Bluestar - Maybe!

A very backlogged request. This one was in general, coming along badly and looked stark and dull till I added the cherry blossom like background. This could be the warrior cat Bluestar, leader of Thunderclan before Firestar took her place. Though the request was just someone who wanted a blue cat.

Black and white warrior cat

Made as a request. The request asked for white ears but it looked better this way so I just put some white on the insides of the ears. I have to consider the whole picture and how it comes together. I think this is one of my best cat portraits yet.

Tortoiseshell Warrior!

It's that tortie-coated Warrior she-cat...wait...IS there one in the canon? I can't actually recall if there is. I don't mean calico, I mean tortoiseshell--that brindled mix of black and orange/cream that is almost exclusively seen in female cats.

Well, our RPG has plenty of them and though this was not an easy one to draw, it was a lot of fun. I got back to the more painterly look. If Erin Hunter doesn't have a tortie in the Warriors series yet, she should put one in, because they're awesome.

American Curl Cat

This is my most recent one, a request done for someone on my own site. It is my most photorealistic cat portrait yet, but I actually don't want to go in that direction, I prefer a more painterly look, though this one has a lot of people liking it.

I hope to get another cat done some time this week...I got a lot of requests to fill!

Request for Emberheart: Red tabby she-cat

This was sure a change in mood from the one before. I had pretty poor photo references for this cat so it was mostly just me making up from memory and such what the cat looked like. Especially around the muzzle area I improvised. I think that is why it looks a little more cartoony than my others, but I like cartoony. I think it came out well. It looks more like a kitten than a cat but Emberheart really liked it.

Longhaired brown tabby cat

This was a request for a "brown longhaired cat" and I know this person likes Maine Coons so I did this one up to resemble one somewhat. I took longer on this than usual and did a little more play on the colours. I think it came out one of my best. He definitely looks like a warrior cat!

Longhair she-cat for Willowheart

When the picture of Firestar wasn't quite enough to convince everyone at the Warriors site that my art was my own I offered to do a very specific request of anyone's cat. My friend Willowheart asked for a portrait of her real-life cat, Jasmine, and showed me a photo. The photo didn't show her whole head so I did a closeup picture. I think it is one of my best so far. Willowheart agreed! And people finally were convinced.

Firestar!!

This was a request made by someone for Firestar, main character of the Warriors series. I did this one mostly to prove I wasn't stealing the art I was showing people. :/ Turned out pretty good, and was the first cat in this series that I think looks better full size than avatar size.

Tom cat with heterochromia

I actually did that on a whim halfway through this. Detail work could have been better but I was getting better at eyes by this point. I think the best parts of it are the light sourcing and the background colour. Makes me think of a summer afternoon.

Next cat - Shorthaired Black Tom

This was cat #4 that I did and I liked how he came out. He wasn't a request cat, just one I did because I wanted to add a black cat to the series. I think he looks warrior-like...I was getting better at drawing the fur and detail work by this point, but it still looks better at its avatar size than the full size, I think.

My Warrior Cats pictures - Avatar art gallery

I created this blog for displaying the art I'm making for my Warrior Cats website, Warrior Cats RPG. Each entry will feature a new cat, done up Warriors style. I've done ten cats so far and this is the earliest one that looked fit to display full size. I do them in 400x400 pixel size, then shrink them to my site's 200x200 pixel avatar size. I plan on doing a whole bunch of cat portrait pictures, as long as I have the muse to do it. This cat was drawn in Photoshop using that wonderful programme's drawing tools.
